Photos From the Group Show: Front and Center
February 2009; Curated by Kimberly Johansson
Location: Headlands Center for the Arts, Marin, SF, CA.
Here is a detail view of my painting as installed at the Headlands Center for the Arts, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge outside of San Francisco. This group exhibition brought together works from California artists who were all finalists for the residency program in 2009. Though I was nominated for a Diebenkorn Fellowship that year, I did not get it. The group show was great, lots of people in attendance and of course, that part of the state in the winter time is amazing.
Here is a link to more pictures of the rest of the work installed in the Front and Center exhibition.

“Comment by AB: Front + Center showcases art by California artists who applied for the 2009 Headlands residency program. The Headlands residency program receives thousands of applications annually from artists around the world and to be recognized for artistic accomplishments in this annual show is indeed an honor (and a tasty little line on any artist resume). According to the scorecard, ‘While physically located in the hinterlands of the Bay Area, Headlands is at the center of creative innovation. At the core of Headlands’ mission is the importance of promoting and supporting artists as cultural producers who actively shape the world.’ I suppose that about sums it up, although it’s hard to believe there’s hinterlands only 25 minutes from my house.”
